Friday, 14 December 2018 | MANOJ KUMAR DASH | KENDRAPADA

Senior leader Bijay Mohapatra, who resigned from the BJP recently, organised a massive meeting at the Gojabayani temple under Marshaghai block in Kendrapada district on Wednesday, apparently to get confident of his support base.

Thousands of Bijay Sena members, former PRI members, Zilla Parishad members and his protégés and supporters attended the meeting to show their solidarity with Mohapatra.Expressing his gratefulness to them, Mohapatra said he and Dilip Ray are in touch with several leaders now and they would jointly take a very important political decision in the interest of the State soon.

“After Dilip Ray returns from foreign, we would hold a meeting at the district headquarters and would announce future course of action. It is sure that we will fight for the interest of the State,” said Mohapatra.

He said the 2019 general elections would the youths’ election in Odisha and, thus, more youths would get opportunity in the fray.

Commenting on the poll results of Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, he said the BJP’s down fall was due to their leaders’ ego. BJP Government’s failure in addressing problems of farmers and tribals and unemployment issues led to their poll debacle in these States, he said.

“I fought for the State’s interest in Mahanadi issue and advised BJP leaders to join me without advocating for Chhattisgarh comment. But I was opposed by them,” he said.

He said the flood of Mahanadi row swept away the Chhattisgarh Government.

He told his supporters that time has come for them not to face any humiliation and atrocity that they have been facing for the last 18 years as a major political change is on the cards.
