In an incident reported from north Delhi’s Burari, a 21-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide at her residence on Monday morning. The woman was a postgraduate student from Shyam Lal Anand College in Delhi University. However, no suicide note was found at the scene, police said.

According to police, the incident was reported around 9:30 am when the victim’s sister found her hanging on the ceiling fan using a saree. Police revealed that she was in a relationship with a man living in the neighbourhood but her parents were against it.

On Sunday, the families of the woman and the boy she was in a relationship had a fight and police were also called. The woman also received minor injuries, police said. The families had said that they would give complaints against each other on Monday, police said.

Police suspect that the woman was upset with the situation which was why she undertook the drastic step. Further investigation is underway, police said.
