US condemns N Korea's ballistic missile test

The US on Monday condemned North Korea’s recent ballistic missiles test, terming it as a violation of the UN Security Council resolutions.

“We strongly condemn this and North Korea’s other recent missile tests, which violate UN Security Council Resolutions explicitly prohibiting North Korea's launches using ballistic missile technology,” said Pentagon Spokesman Navy Commander Gary Ross.

The US Strategic Command systems detected and tracked what it assessed were three North Korean missile launches on September 4 near the western city of Hwangju.

“Two of the three missiles are presumed to be intermediate range ballistic missiles. The type of the other missile is still being assessed,” Stratcom said.

The missiles were tracked over North Korea and into the Sea of Japan, it added.
