UK to probe sex abuse allegations against former British PM

The UK’s police watchdog on Monday  said it will investigate whether police failed to properly probe sexual abuse allegations against former Prime Minister Edward Heath, amid charges that authorities covered up cases of child sexual abuse by powerful people during the 1990’s.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said it was alleged a case was dropped when a person involved made claims against late Edward, who led the 1970-1974 Conservative party government in Britain.

Edward died at his home in Salisbury, south-west England, in 2005 aged 89.
