As Donald Trump continues to rake up former President Bill Clinton’s past, calling him “one of the greatest abusers of the world”, Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton asserted that such a campaign has not derailed her own political career in the past and will not now.
Asked pointedly about the Republican front-runner’s focus on Bill Clinton’s past sex life in recent weeks, Hillary Clinton told CBS News, “I think it’s a dead end, blind alley for them (Republicans) but let them go.”
In the run-up to the US presidential primaries, Trump has lately been focusing a great deal on Bill Clinton’s “abuse” of women and even comparing him with beleaguered comedian Bill Cosby, who has been facing sexual assault allegations from over 50 women.
“I can’t run anybody else’s campaign. They can say whatever they want, more power to them,” Hillary Clinton said on CBS’ “Face the Nation”.
“If he (Trump) wants to engage in personal attacks from the past, that’s his prerogative,” Hillary Clinton said on CBS’ “Face the Nation”, commenting that similar electoral approaches against her “didn’t work before, won’t work again”.
“let the voters judge that, but I am not going to let him or any of the other Republicans rip away the progress that women have made,” she said, adding: “It’s been too hard fought for and I’m going to stand up and make it clear there’s a huge difference between us.”
