US President Donald Trump is set to deliver his first speech before a joint session of Congress during which he would unveil a “bold” agenda for the country and talk about the renewal of the American spirit.
Trump, who assumed presidency on January 20, is scheduled to deliver the prime-time speech on Tuesday. Traditionally, a US president should be in office for a year before they give their first State of the Union address.
In a State of the Union address, the president usually reflects back on the past year and how the nation is doing.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said that in his speech “the President will lay out an optimistic vision for the country, crossing traditional lines of party, race, socioeconomic status”.
