The Trump family seems intent on proving old Karl Marx right. The original communist said that, “history repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.”
The first iteration of the great political plagiarism scandal of 2016 was tragic for Republican nominee Donald Trump’s campaign: His wife Melania gave a speech that was widely praised (despite its bewildering lack of any sort of detail or emotion that would cast the candidate in a human or affectionate light) – but the whole affair quickly turned into a crashing failure when it became clear that lines from Melania Trump’s speech were first delivered by Michelle Obama eight years earlier.
