Thailand will host a special regional meeting this month to find ways to tackle the issue of illegal migration by Myanmar’s Rohingya Musilm minority and Bangladeshis as both Malaysia and Indonesia have refused entry to boatloads of hungry migrants. Foreign Minister Gen Tanasak Patimapragorn said in a statement that the one day meet on May 29 on “Irregular migration in the Indian Ocean” is an urgent call for the region to comprehensively work together to address the unprecedented increase of irregular migration in the region.
