Syrian rebels and Al Qaeda seized the southern town of Nawa on Sunday from troops loyal to President Bashar al-Assad after months of intense fighting, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. Both local rebel groups and Al Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front claimed credit for the opposition advance, which comes days after the jehadis expelled moderate rebels from their positions there. Nawa is in Daraa province bordering Jordan, Damascus province and Quneitra.
