A Pakistani man was on Tuesday gored to death by a bull he had bought to sacrifice on Eid-ul-Azha. Muhammad Akhtar of Hafizabad district, located some 200 km from lahore, the capital of Punjab province, had reportedly paid Rs 110,000 for the bull. Akhtar’s relatives said he was feeding the bull when it started hitting him with its horns.
Akhtar was seriously injured by the time his relatives overpowered the animal. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds. Every year, scores of people are injured across Pakistan in attacks by animals, especially bulls, in the run-up to Eid-ul-Azha, the festival of sacrifice. However, fatalities in such incidents are rare. Eid-ul-Azha was observed in parts of the tribal belt of northwest Pakistan today while the rest of the country will celebrate it on Wednesday.
