The Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) is making a strong push to make the Indian-American community reception for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York City next month a truly memorable affair.
The OFBJP, led by its global convener Vijay Jolly, who has specially flown in from New Delhi for the preparations, has undertaken a massive mobilisation of Indian-Americans for the event, slated to be held at the famed Madison Square Garden on September 28.
The event, titled “Pradhan Mantri Narendra Modi Abhinandan Samaroh”, will be held under the auspices of the Indian-American Community Foundation, a newly-formed umbrella body with representation from various ‘desi’ organisations from across America.
Jolly, along with BJP MP Col (Retd.) Rajyavardhan Rathore and OFBJP-USA president Chandrakant Patel, is currently visiting eight major US cities in a space of 12 days as part of the mobilisation effort, addressing gatherings of Indian-Americans from various walks of life.
While in los Angeles to kick off his tour earlier this week, Jolly held a meeting with the influential US Congressman Ed Royce, a strong India supporter and chairman of the House committee on Foreign Affairs, and extended him an invitation to attend the New York event.
