President Barack Obama has thanked Indian steel magnate lakshmi Mittal for investing in America and creating jobs.

“I want to thank your CEO, lakshmi Mittal, for investing in America and the Cleveland area. We appreciate him,” Obama said on Thursday, after going round the ArcelorMittal plant in Ohio that has just celebrated 100 years of steel-making. lauding ArcelorMittal for turning around the factory which was almost shut down in the wake of the 2008 economic recession, Obama said: “Today, the steel you make in Cleveland is some of the strongest you’ll find anywhere in the world. It’s one of the most productive plants in the world. Best workers in the world.”

“It’s a great honour for all of us at ArcelorMittal Cleveland to welcome President Obama here today,” Mittal said, noting: “The link between Cleveland’s success and our investment in advanced high strength steel has been very important to our success.” Pointing out that his company has invested $70 million this year alone, resulting in the creation of 150 new jobs, Mittal said that in the coming years, the plant would help its automotive customers meet the demanding fuel-efficiency standards.
