Obama tears real, but won't agree with gun-control plan: Trump

Donald Trump, who seldom misses an opportunity to mock Barack Obama, surprised his supporters by noting that the President was “sincere” when he shed tears at a White House event on Tuesday while talking about the massacre of first graders in a Connecticut elementary school in 2012.

“I actually think he was sincere,” Trump told Fox News when asked about Obama’s emotional moment and then joked: “I’ll probably go down about 5 points in the polls by saying that, but I think he was sincere.”

The Republican presidential front-runner, however, made it clear that he does not agree with Obama’s unilateral executive action on gun control, commenting: “We cannot tamper with the Second Amendment (right to bear arms).”

“His idea is just taking chunks and chunks out of the Second Amendment until we don’t have a Second Amendment anymore, and people need protection,” Trump said. He then turned his guns on Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, saying she was “worse than Obama on the issue”, adding: “Frankly, she wants to take everyone’s gun away.”

“We have to protect the Second Amendment. We have no choice. We have to do that,” Trump said in a separate appearance on CNN, adding any action on the gun control matter should be through legislation in US Congress, not through President’s executive action.
