Nepalese Prime Minister Prachanda on Wednesday said the Government aims at tabling a Constitution amendment proposal in the Parliament before November 6 and will try to build consensus among the major stakeholders, including the agitating Madhesis.
While addressing the Parliament to inform about his recently concluded visit to Goa to attend the BRICS- BIMSTEC Outreach Summit earlier this week, he said discussions were underway for the same so as to table the proposal within next three weeks, before the Chhath which is considered major in this country. Prachanda also informed the lawmakers that the draft of the proposal was at its final stage.
He, however, admitted that dialogues held among the major parties so far had not been much fruitful; hence, the Government was doing homework to make the discussions more fruitful. The Government has accorded top priority to conclude the Constitution amendment in consensus of the main opposition CPN-UMl and agitating parties and groups, including Madhesis, Tharus and Janajatis, he said.
