Narendra Modi to address BJP supporters in US via satellite

The United States may still be in no mood to grant him a visa, but that will not stop Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP campaign chief Narendra Modi from addressing a major convention of Overseas Friends of BJP in Florida later this month — via satellite.

He will not only address the convention, live from Gandhinagar, but will also take questions from the audience, says the OFBJP.

Titled “Mission 2014: BJP 272+”, the three-day event being held in Tampa, beginning September 21, intends to mobilise Indian-American support for the BJP in the run-up to the 2014 lok Sabha polls.

To be inaugurated by BJP vice-president Smriti Irani, the event will bring together OFBJP and other Indian-American supporters from across the US.

“The theme of this convention is ‘Mission 2014’ and how we can help and mobilize the India diaspora to support the BJP,” said the organisers. As OFBJP’s incoming president Chandrakant Patel put it, the convention will deliberate on “harnessing the latest technology and social media tools in support of the BJP”.
