Microchip helps reunite UK dog with owners after 5 years

In a heart-warming incident, a 13-year old dog in the UK was reunited with its owners five years after it went missing, thanks to a microchip fitted to the canine that disclosed its identity.

Eddie the Yorkshire Terrier vanished from a garden while staying with its owners’ relatives in North Manchester, while they were on holiday. “Neighbours were searching the streets, we put up posters everywhere, alerted all the local vets and rescue centres, reported it to police and registered him on all the websites,” said Sandra Wright, owner of the dog.

“We even offered a reward, but he had simply vanished. With each week that passed, we knew the chances of finding him decreased. It was awful,” she added. What Eddie has been doing since it disappeared is unclear. The dog recently found itself in the care of Jeanette Johnson who lives in Stockport, less than one kilometre from Wright’s home, the ‘Daily Express’ reported.
