With low numbers in major national polls, Indian-American hopeful Bobby Jindal is in danger of not qualifying for the first televised Republican presidential debate to be hosted by Fox News on August 6 in Cleveland along with Facebook and the Ohio Republican Party.
There are 16 candidates vying for the Republican nomination, but Fox has decided to restrict the opening debate to the Top 10 contenders. An average of the five most recent national polls will determine who all make the cut.
Jindal, despite some good showing in Iowa which as per tradition will kick off the primaries next February, happens to be in the bottom six of the national polls. In the most recent poll, conducted by The Washington Post and ABC News, Jindal was tied with Ohio Governor John Kasich for the 11th slot, with both poling just 2 per cent.
A Real Clear Politics average of polls showed put Jindal in the 13th slot. led by Donald Trump, the Top 10 in this listing includes Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Chris Christie and Rick Perry. Besides Jindal, others in the bottom six include Kasich, Rick Santorum, Carly Fiorina, lindsey Graham and George Pataki.
