The ISIS on Monday claimed responsibility for the Orlando shooting saying in a radio bulletin that it was carried out by “one of the soldiers of the caliphate”.
“God allowed Omar Mateen, one of the soldiers of the caliphate in America, to carry out an attack entering a crusader gathering in a night club... in Orlando in Florida, killing and wounding more than 100 of them,” a bulletin from Al-Bayan radio said.
The terrorist group declared its “caliphate” in Syria and Iraq in 2014. The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq said on Sunday that the attack had been “carried out by an ISIS fighter”.
Meanwhile, the shares in G4S have fallen heavily after the UK security services company said Omar Mateen was an employee.
G4S, the world’s biggest security firm, said it had
employed Mateen since September 2007 and that he was off duty when he carried out the deadliest mass shooting in US history on Sunday morning.
Orlando shooter Omar Mateen was a home grown terrorists who was radicalised over the internet, the FBI said, asserting that he was not part of any overseas global terrorist network, including the dreaded ISIS militant group.
