Donald Trump just became the Republican nominee. Chip in now to make sure he never steps foot in the Oval Office,” tweeted Hillary Clinton soon after the Republican convention crowned Trump with the nomination for the presidential race.
The presumptive Democratic rival followed it up with another tweet, telling her Twitter followers: “Trump doesn’t represent us or our values. Join the 100,000 people who have already signed our letter if you agree.”
If speakers at the Republican convention kept up the refrain that she should be disqualified from the presidential race because of her email saga and her handling of the Benghazi episode, Clinton castigated Trump as one who is a threat to democracy and unfit to become US President.
“This man is the nominee of the Party of lincoln. And we are watching it become the Party of Trump. And that’s not just a huge loss to our democracy it is a threat to our democracy,” she said in an address to the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) in Cincinnati.
“I don’t care if you’re a Democrat, a Republican or an Independent. Donald
Trump cannot become President of the United States. And that’s why we’ve got to work together to get out the vote this fall,” she said.
