First transsexual church wedding in Denmark

A church in the Danish city of Ringsted, west of Copenhagen, will on Saturday host the first religious wedding of a transsexual couple in Denmark, public television channel DR reported on Friday.

The Danish Parliament approved in June 2012 a new law to allow gay marriages in the Evangelical lutheran Church in Denmark, but so far, transsexuals have not been included in this approval.

Isabell Storm and Cecilie Mundt said that they not only want to have a civil marriage, but also want approval from the church, which would be “beautiful”.
