China is firm on solving the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue through talks and peaceful means, President Xi Jinping told his US counterpart Donald Trump during a telephonic conversation on Wednesday.
His remarks came days after North Korea conducted its sixth nuclear test. During the phone call, Xi and Trump exchanged their views on the current situation on the peninsula. Xi said China had been adamant in preserving international nuclear non-proliferation, maintaining peace and stability on the peninsula, and resolving the nuclear issue through talks, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
