A total of 187 Hindu pilgrims from India arrived in Pakistan’s Punjab province on Tuesday to participate in festivities marking Shivratri at the famous Katasraj temple.

The festivities at the sixth-century Katasraj Mandir in Chakwal district, 250 km from lahore, will begin on Thursday. Officials of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), which manages the shrines of Pakistan’s minority communities, welcomed the pilgrims at the Wagah land border.

ETPB Deputy Director (shrines) Fraz Abbas told PTI that the Indian pilgrims will be provided “foolproof” security. “They will also be provided free food, transport and accommodation,” he said.
