The circus themed pop-up restaurant by Park Hotel was a hit at the fair. I Kaur sat under a table and ate desserts off a ferris wheel

When you first read Alice in Wonderland, the idea of Mad Hatter’s tea party must have excited you. Somewhere in your subconscious mind you would have imagined the setting and probably even tweaked it a little as per your understanding. Though this dream of yours may not have been fulfilled so far, but you can experience a part of it now. The Park Hotel’s pop-up restaurant at the India Design ID 2014 introduced the concept of ‘under the table tea party’. While the theme of the pop-up restaurant was the circus, this slight addition was an exciting one. “We were inspired by the Mad Hatter’s tea party and decided to tweak it. So we created a seating area under a tall table. We also crafted a separate menu,” said the spokesperson of the Hotel Ruchika Mehta.

She felt that the restaurant brought back childhood memories. “The idea was to create a fun-filled atmosphere for people where they not only come in to eat but to experience something new. So everything in the pop-up restaurant was related to kids,” she said.

While there was a buffet and a-la-carte menu, the under the table concept was only open during tea time. In addition to that for an enhanced childhood effect the desserts that were a part of the buffet were served on a ferris wheel. While you enjoyed your meal, chances were that a clown would drop by at your table and wave a hello.
