Actress Sana Sayyad feels that the fight for good over evil is universal. By Ayushi Sharma

From kundali to tarot card reading, people across the globe have been curious about predicting their future. Everyone has been trying to alter their destiny with gemstones to warding off evil and wanting to know what future has in store for them. But do these fortune-tellers even exist? They sure do, in tales.

Actress Sana Sayyad plays the character of Drishti in StarPlus’ new offering — Divya Drishti, a narrative of twin sisters who are blessed with powers, they have been separated by fate but hope of reuniting with each other keeps them going. Sana’s character, who is born with a superpower, can see the impending forthcoming and Divya, on the other hand, can change them.

Sana explains that in the show, as Drishti and Divya try to reunite with each other on every full moon’s night, a threat looms over them. The wicked witch or pishachini, who is equipped with a powerful dagger and has a hollow eye, haunts Drishti by malevolent visions of her. There are certain events including the witch’s regular appearances that make her wonder whether her gifted superpowers are really a boon or a mere jinx?

Sana says, “The show has been conceived keeping in mind the new wave of concepts that comes with a little element of thrill and keeps viewers on the edge of the seats.”

She feels that these days, such kind of fictional shows are “quite in trend.” Even though people don’t believe in it, they enjoy watching it. She says, “Every genre has a certain kind of audience.”

She hasn’t done anything of this kind before and this is the reason why Sana is excited to play such a character. “Initially I had no idea how to react on the script. I had to do a lot of home work like watching a few series and films. I am still trying to adapt to a lot of things. The whole idea of working hard, showcasing something new and the challenges that I had to fulfill just got me on it,” says Sana.

The actress shares that the show has got many layers to it. Having superpowers is the “USP” but apart from that there are other relevant things as well. “You’ll see the bonding between two sisters, a lot of thrill, suspense, twist and turns, moral values, romance and friendship.”

Sana explains that the show’s story telling value is good versus evil. She says, “Conflict of good and evil is a concept that has survived for over ages and has long been ingrained into literature. The fight is considered to be universal. It is usually seen that the good must defeat the evil, and this is also that journey in its simplest form. It’s always important to showcase the achayi ki burayi pe jeet type of content.”
