Discovery Kids and WWF-India organised Wild Wisdom Quiz 2015 where Arjun Kapoor took the baton of a quizmaster. By A Mishra
For some students gathered at the WWF compounds, Arjun Kapoor was the nerdy, yet classy, student from 2 States and for the others he was the “guy” who played a rebel in Gunday. But it was beyond them that the same person, thankfully we overheard some kids calling him an actor, would step into the shoes of a quizmaster for Wild Wisdom quiz, organised by Discovery Kids and WWF-India.
As soon as he popped a question relating to nature, there was a mad rush for the buzzer, with five buzzers ringing at the same time. Well, almost.
The quiz at the city level was held in August and September in 15 cities and the finals were at WWF- India’s auditorium with the the final five teams. The winners of the Quiz were P Shriman and R Avnish from Vidya Niketan Public School, Chennai, the first runners-up were S Gokul Sai and T Pavan from Teja Vidyalaya, Hyderabad and the second runners-up were Sparsh Jandial and Sajjal Rana from The Heritage School, Jammu and Kashmir. The three winning teams will head for a three-day adventure to Tirthan River Valley and the Great Himalayan National Park to experience nature first-hand.
Kapoor not only added glamour to the event but also happily posed for selfies with the kids afterwards. Recounting a memory of a quiz contest from his school days. He said, “In my entire school life I participated in a quiz only once — that too as a replacement because one of the students dropped off. I had no clue of what was happening but I was a big of the Bournvita Quiz Contest and that instinct kicked in. My teachers offered me to host the show and I jumped at the opportunity and my only reference was Derek O’Brien.”
The actor went on to confess that there was a lot that he learnt from the Wild Wisdom Quiz. “Even if I had spent hours on the Internet I would not have learnt the things I did just hosting it,” he concluded.
