In order to encourage the airlines to bring more cargo freighters into Chennai and Kolkata Airports, AAI has brought an unique incentive scheme in landing charges for international transit and technical cargo freighters operated by the airlines to and from Kolkata and Chennai airports. The incentive on landing charges for cargo freighters is linked to the frequency of the number of freighters operated in a month at these two airports.

The above scheme is applicable for Chennai and Kolkata airports only for all international scheduled and non-scheduled cargo freighters which is valid for initial period of three years.

India has a vision of becoming the third largest aviation market by 2020. The civil aviation industry in India has nurtured in the era of expansion driven factors such as low cost carriers modern aircrafts, FDI in domestic airlines and growing emphasis on regional connectivity.

For every one to five cargo freighters a month the percentage

of concession on applicable landing/charges on freighters will be nil. And the charges will increase will increasing number of of cargos.
