Vaishnavi McDonald and Eva Grover attribute their off-screen camaraderie to their poisonous on-screen rivalry in the forthcoming television show, Tashan-e-Ishq on Zee TV. R Sharma reports
This is the first time in the history of Indian television when two women are playing business rivals. Not only are they business rivals in the show, they also hate each other to such an extent that they can’t stand the sight of one another. The show Tashan-e-Ishq will air on Zee TV on August 10. It replaces the famous historical drama, Jodha Akbar.
Talking about her character, Vaishnavi McDonald, who plays leela Taneja says, “It was really difficult to get the Punjabi accent with the appropriate attitude for the show. I watched six Punjabi movies and went through 20 music albums to get the right approach.”
She adds, “leela Taneja is deeply rooted in our culture whereas Anita luthra is quite modern. While Taneja prefers lassi, luthra is partial to champagne.” But, both of the characters are very “protective of their children,” adds McDonald.
“I am playing the character of Anita luthra who is a rich, independent and a strong woman. She is high-headed and considers the Tanejas as her sole rivals,” says Eva Grover. She adds, “She is actually the opposite of the person I really am. I am not a superwoman who can manage ten things at a time like luthra. Though I won’t say that I am completely dependent but yes, I need people to care of my demands.”
Interestingly, both the characters have no men in their lives and this mystery would be unfolded during the course of the show.
Tashan -e-Ishq is the story of a young girl, Twinkle (daughter of Taneja) and her love interest Yuvraj (son of lutra) in the backdrop of rich, upscale Punjab. The ishq takes a turn when Twinkle’s mother selects Kunj as a suitable match for her. Will her love endure the complications presented by her mother or will we see her succumbing in front of her destiny chosen by her motherIJ
