Manav Gangwani made a grand comeback with his couture collection that had over 70 looks for men and women

It was no short of a movie premiere night where city creme de la creme walked on the red carpet, striking with champagnes and proudly displaying chutzpa. Designer Manav Gangwani pushed all stars in the sky to make his ‘comeback affair’ as one of the most-talked about events. At Hyatt’s newly launched Mansion, he showcased his couture collection called Seven. The ballroom was encircled with an oval stage, for multiple designs to be showcased simultaneously — giving the audience a spectacular view through its 235 ft ramp versus the traditional ramp of 80 feet. The collection showcased 60 women’s styles including kaftans, draped saris, lehengas, jackets, suits and anarkalis and over 20 men’s styles with the classic sherwanis, fashioned with a difference!

The garments were high on Swarovski crystals. He experimented with pearls, gota and chikankari extensively. “My years in this industry have made me realise that the most important person in making me who I am is “I”. It is my faith in myself and in my passion for designing that has shaped the course of my life,” said the designer. “Taking inspiration and using techniques from a long-forgotten era, I have woven together a fantasy of ethereal creations. I have given a touch of other worldly charm and serenity, along with a feeling of opulence, to the entire collection,” he added.

Translating seven virtues into seven colours, Gangwani used shades of pink to depict hope, yellow to depict faith, a gentle lavender to depict forgiveness, the purity of ivory to depict honesty, the brilliance of aqua depicts strength, the boldness of gold to depict courage and  the luminosity of green to depict loyalty!
