Heartthrob Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to flaunt a chiselled body. He spilled the beans to K Bhardwaj about his workout regime and plans for a musical single
The guy-next-door Ayushmann Khurrana is on his way towards transformation. In his next untitled film by Yash Raj opposite Sonam Kapoor, he will be showing off six-pack abs. He is currently working out passionately. This was evident when we met him in Delhi recently. He was leaner and fitter. “My fitness regime just got crazy. I lost 8 kgs so far. I am told not to bulk up my muscles, so I get a sexy, leaner look. I am doing lots of cardio. I didn’t have much problem because I tend to lose weight easily. I eat carbs until six. Then I go on a protein diet.” The film is directed by Nupur Asthana and also stars Rishi Kapoor.
He also plans to do a musical project in the near future. “I should get time. I learned a lot and evolved as an actor, singer and composer. I have some tracks in mind. Rochak Kohli and I composed them. If not an album, we may launch a single soon. The only problem with singles or non-filmy music is they don’t get a platform anymore. Radio stations and channels don’t play independent music. But there’s a lot of backing for film music and bands or pop singers are flourishing like in the past,” he shared. His favourite is Gurdas Maan but he also listens to ghazal legends. “I enjoy Punjabi soft rock. Generically Punjabi music is up-tempo and has a cacophony. People loved Pani Da Rang and Saadi Gali. I love ghazals by Mehdi Hasaan, Jagjit Singh and Shafqat Amanat Ali.” Two-film old, Khurrana doesn’t frets over the box office. Vicky Donor was a blockbuster that established him as a household name. Nautanki Saala failed to recreate the magic.
“You feel pressure when you reach a certain stage. I enjoyed my stint with radio, theatre and TV. But I never felt pressurised. Cinema is a small world. People create unnecessary competition. But I don’t believe in that. To be frank I am happy to have achieved all this on my own,” he said.
The 28-year-old believes Bollywood is facing its golden era. “The industry is looking beyond nepotism. Newcomers are doing fabulously. I am not part of any Bollywood camp. Times have changed and times of camps have gone,” he said.
Would he team with Annu Kapoor againIJ “I would love to. He is not intimidating as an actor. He is like a friend. I am only 28, while he has been acting for 31 years. He is a passionate person. I am more of a listener, when we sit together. He has impeccable knowledge about music, theatre, cinema and religion. I hope they use Annu Kapoor in Hamara Bajaj,” he expressed.
