After a 16 week battle, Maharashtra’s V Company lifted the Dance+ trophy. Team members share their journey and experience with Arjita Mishra
They were just random guys living on the streets, trying to steer through life one day at a time but in a turn of events, almost a filmy one at that, they came together. Their main reason — to dance on stage.
When they stepped into the audition stage of Star Plus’ Dance+, what intrigued the judges was not what they were about to perform but the sheer number of members — 50. Sixteen weeks and innumerable performances later, they finally reached the finals, a stage where they never dreamt of ever reaching. And yes, luck did aide in paving their way to the trophy.
The youngest in the group from Maharashtra is all on nine while the eldest is 23. Veron Monterio, the choreographer shared with us details of the herculean task of making a dance routine for the group. He said, “It was a challenge for us to coordinate among the 50 members because we used to get only four days to prepare our act.”
When you don’t expect to go beyond the first few rounds, winning the title of the show comes as a big surprise, and more so for this group under Dharmesh. Monerio shared, “Winning this show is a very big surprise. I didn’t know so many people out there have been supporting us. Most importantly, Shakti ma’am, Dharmesh sir and Sumeet sir have given us their support through their comments that inspired us to work harder and win the love of so many fans.”
Veteran choreographers Terence lewis and Geeta Kapur came to the finale to support the contestants. The boys are taking home `25 lakhs and a Maruti Suzuki Swift car.

Designer Rahul Mishra’s fresh from Paris Week collection was installed at the French Embassy. Each garment, lovingly crafted with 3D surface has been developed with the touch of human hands, where the emotions of human feeling and poetry, emanated a new dimension. Visiting old age techniques combining the vanishing old hand skills, and with the mastery of craftsmen, the journey produced a superlative new imprint.

Debarun’s collection One Fine Day was a riot of colours, mostly inspired from the shades and hues of the horizon when the sun sets. The vibrant tones were set against geometric patterns representing the structure of the day with ombre shades symbolizing the fluidity of time. Contemporary silhouettes, which are both classic and relaxed, formed the crux of this collection.
