Vidya to make Tamil debut
Actress Vidya Balan, last seen on screen in Telugu film NTR Kathanayakudu, will be making her Tamil debut via upcoming untitled Tamil remake of Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu-starrer Pink.
The film is produced by Boney Kapoor, who is foraying into southern filmdom with this project.
The actress has been paired opposite Ajith Kumar in the remake being directed by H. Vinoth. The shoot is underway in Hyderabad.
“Happy to introduce Vidya Balan to the Tamil audience. Shraddha Srinath has also been roped in for a pivotal role in the film,” said Kapoor.
‘I have never consciously chosen content-based cinema. These are the films that come to me. They have chosen me. It’s my fate. I am happily taking the roles that are coming to me because there aren’t too many films that get offered, especially to women who are not from the star background.’

Filmmaker Aditya Chopra is set to launch a new face as the merciless villain in Mardaani 2 that also stars Rani Mukerji, said a source.
Rani had played the role of a daredevil senior inspector of the crime branch named Shivani Shivaji Roy in the film’s first part. In Mardaani 2, she will be shown as a police superintendent locked in a vicious battle with someone who can be called pure evil.
Though the story of Mardaani 2 has been kept under wraps, the sources said, “The makers have zeroed in on a young boy (debutante) who will take on Rani in the sequel. The role requires a menacing, blood-chilling performance and everyone is excited to find out who this young actor is.”
