‘Progress of nation matters more’

Actor Kamal Haasan says “Not religion, not culture, progress is what matters.” He says people in India are busy debating trivial issues whereas the need of the hour is to rise above them. So, how important is it to address the real issues? He says, “It is very important. We have lost that dialogue. We are talking about everything else and trying to prove a point which does not exist. We are debating things that don’t matter at all.”

He feels that change can only come with unity when we are ready to talk about all issues.

‘I haven’t heard the whole story, but I think what’s most important at a work place is respect — whether for a woman, man or a child. If we want to make our industry a safe place, everyone deserves equal respect. It takes great courage to tell something openly and I applaud Tanushree (Dutta) for it.’

Actor Saif Ali Khan said that as a child, he was a bit rebellious and unpredictable but now everything has settled well for him and he feels wiser and a little enlightened. “I think maybe it comes from the reading or thinking, or endless hours sitting around waiting for a shot and contemplating stuff. It has led to a certain amount of comfort and understanding and peace,” Saif said.

Chris Evans slams Kanye West

Actor Chris Evans has criticised rapper Kanye West’s call for the abolition of the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution, labelling the rappers tweet “maddening.” It all started as West, 41, captioned his Twitter photo wearing a pro-Donald Trump ‘Make America Great Again’ hat on a private plane. West tweeted, “This represents America becoming whole again. We will no longer outsource to other countries. We build factories here in America and create jobs. We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Message sent with love.” Evans tweeted, “There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue.”
