Jelle Keizer from Mightyfools chats with Iknoor Kaur about the growth of EDM in India

We have seen them do everything from crowdsurfing to climbing on the light system on the ceiling to even getting kicked out of a club after starting a moshpit. However, now Dutch DJs Jelle Keizer and Andy Samin have gotten a bit older, thus Mightyfools was neither that rowdy nor that flamboyant when they performed at an event by Kyoas entertainment at Kitty Su recently. However, they surely knew how to put up a good show. Though they didn’t prepare a special set per se for India, they brought some club bangers including some new tracks of their own. “We always look at what kind of vibe is there on the dance floor and then start our music. We brought a mix of sounds, not just a plain EDM. There was electro, trap, moombahton, twerk, dubstep and a lot of heavy bassline,” said Keizer.

The duo started their career in 2008 and has managed to set a good base all over the world. According to Keizer, they get their inspiration from travelling. “We’re lucky to be able to travel around the world, see new places and meet a lot of new people. We’ve seen so much that each person/place brings inspiration. Each trip of ours brings in something special,” he shared.

Other than producing music, the duo also likes to “party and play GTA 5 on the playstation. We believe in living life to the fullest.” The two of them are also big fans of Bollywood music. Keizer explained, “Andy’s mother used to listen to a lot of Bollywood artistes. So that’s the only music we have heard so far from India. But this tour we made sure that we went to clubs a bit earlier and saw and heard the Indian DJs play.”

Keizer feels that India’s become a big EDM station. “It looks like the EDM scene in India is blowing up. Since last year we’ve noticed a big increase in our fan base from India and we received a lot of messages about coming to India. Now that we were finally here, our twitter timeline exploded,” he said.
