The Tevar actor has been roped in by Hero Cycles to be the brand ambassador and launched a limited edition of ‘Celebrity’ sports cycle named after him — AK edition. Only 3,000 units of the sports cycle would be available across the country on online portals and select Hero stores and will also have his signature.
Reminiscing about his childhood days, he talked about cycling around the city after school with his friends. “The first bicycle my father bought for me, since I was very upset over something and he wanted to make up for it, was a Hero cycle. My first memory is all about bonding with my friends while pedaling through the lanes, getting lost and then finding my way back again. A cycle has always played an important part in every kid’s life. The milkman, the newspaper-wallah, if you remember, all would come over on their bicycles. Hero has been catering to millions of people in this country for so many years,” he shared.
The star, who entered the Bollywood scene with Ishaqzaade in 2012, had to undergo intense fitness programme to lose weight and also resorted to cycling which is a simpler exercise.Pointing at the benefits, he said, “The best part is that it is very eco-friendly. We don't need autos and taxis to cover small distances but could simply hop on a cycle and maneuver our way through. It’s a great workout and also saves fuel. We should enjoy and support this new movement of Hero cycles. It also brings out the child inside of us.”
He named New York City as his happy place “but it’s too far and by the time you reach there, you’re not really happy. There is a strange energy and connect that I feel with that city. The Indian city, on the other hand, that I’d like to explore alone on a bicycle would be Kerala.”
Kapoor, who was last seen grooving while wearing a pair of red hot heels at the IIFA awards in Malaysia, said it was the weirdest thing he had ever done in his life. “I’m very proud of it because I did it very well. I got lucky that I didn’t break my ankle or else wouldn’t have been able to host the show the next day. So I’ve crossed it off my bucket list,” he told us.
