Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan tells Karan Bhardwaj what makes or breaks a marriage

Stars are known for their late arrivals. This outing of Shaadi Ke Side Effects’ team in Delhi was no different. Braving ‘maddening traffic’ and ‘smashing rains’, the entourage comprising Farhan Akhtar, Vidya Balan, Ekta Kapoor and Saket Chaudhary landed at PVR Director’s Cut almost two and a half hours after the scheduled time. However, Vidya Balan took no time in winning hearts with her witty jokes. Guess what she offered to impress her hubby Siddharth Roy KapurIJ Agajar. “Since I don’t know to cook, I gave a carrot which served two purposes. It filled his appetite and also helped him in reducing kilos,” she quipped adding that “my sense of humour is at another level today. I am thinking too far and too much. So don’t mind.” She not only left scribes in split but also overshadowed the other stars present. Clad in a long blue zipper dress, Balan, unlike Farhan, faced every question about her personal life with great elan. But she denied giving her personal inputs to the director. “I did the film when I was married for two months. So I had nothing to offer any input. But I got several ideas of teasing and pulling husband which I am going to apply in my real life soon,” she said. She also added that SKSE, which is a comedy, is different from her previous movie Ghanchakkar. “The previous character was loud, impatient and sartorially challenged but this one is exactly opposite,” she said.

Shaadi Ke Side Effectstalks about life after marriage and kids. The couple wants to rediscover their love life. “In today’s time, couples have run out of patience. They give up when they see first sign of disappointment. In courtship, everything looks wonderful but things change later. I think people should communicate and discuss problems rather than running away,” she said. Farhan Akhtar had a different view on marriage hassles. “It depends on individuals how they want to perceive their relationships. It depends on attitude and personalities. At the end of the day, if individuals are not happy together, they can part ways. It is not sacrosanct to carry the burden of a failed marriage,” he said. For him, SKSE is a complete revamp after Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. “It’s fun. BMB was quite challenging and demanding but my character in SKSE is more relaxed. It’s great to try out entirely opposite films back to back. I was also excited to work Vidya,” he said.

Ekta Kapoor, who was tight-lipped about her plans for marriage, said, “I’ve realised how it feels being a bachelor. Now I may have shaadi ka ladoo soon.”
