The perfect Sunday

With the release date of Tu Hai Mera Sunday coming closer, Milind Dhaimade definitely looks excited. He shifted from the Everest Brand Solutions as the national creative director in 2015 to work on films. And started working on some scripts. “A

fellow colleague had the idea of a Sunday football routine at Juhu beach and this got me thinking what would happen if they could not play one weekend. This struck me that Mumbai has very little space for happiness. And through these five boys I have showcased what is Mumbai for me,” says Dhaimade, who took two years to flesh out the story.

However, he does associate the limited space in Mumbai with the hard-to-get opportunity in the film industry. “But new talent still finds some space, especially with the digital platform and technology becoming more accessible. However, I do feel that finding an audience for your film is really difficult with people still working with the formula of earning back what they invested in the first week of the release. This approach must come to an end. Only then will films with good content be made,” shares Dhaimade, who takes a tea break from making sure that the screening of the trailer is perfect.

Dhaimade took three months for casting as he feels that when one is working on real life characters, it’s hard to place a star. “I wanted to have convincing actors and not run after stardom. And I did make the right choice as these actors have genuinely invested time and energy,” says Dhaimade.
