Salman Yusuff Khan’s final performance in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa will be his ode to television. He shared details with Iknoor Kaur

Salman Yusuff Khan credits the small screen for his popularity and success. He is giving his sweat, quite literally, to make his final act in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa the best amongst the lot. Khan and Drashti Dhami are working on the final performance, that will be an ode to the television. The choreographer says that he used all the technical knowledge he has to come up with the act.

“I have used pre-shot croma, lED lights, graphics and also combined several other technical items to present a live performance that will look like a movie. It is basically dance with a lot of special effects,” he explained.

Salman feels that his biggest feat this season is transforming Drashti from a non-dancer to almost a professional. He shared, “She is one of the leading soap stars and works nine to nine. With that kind of a schedule I managed to teach her so much and bring her to this level. This is the biggest achievement for me. Right now, I am only focussing on bringing out her talent to the masses.”

He added that Drashti is like a child, “When you tell a child that jump from a hill, he is fearless about it. That is exactly how Drashti is. She just does whatever I tell her. She is always enthusiastic about learning new things.”

Salman added, “The only constraint I faced throughout this season was time. Drashti hasn’t been able to give me the time I wanted her to, but that is alright. However, I am quite sure that if she have given me more time I would’ve made her perfect.”

The 28-year-old said that if given a chance, he would love to do a modern day Romeo and Juliet act in future. He shared, “I don’t know how I would do it or any other details, I just feel that I should do it. My mind works all the time. I never kill a thought, fearing its results. I think big and try to make it happen. To me, an idea can come from a particular costume or a dance move.”

Salman was linked up with his co-dancer Drashti. He laughed it off, “It is quite funny actually that every season so far I have been paired up with gorgeous actresses. Obviously that does make people jealous. But I think for me the most important is to make sure the actresses live up to that beauty with their dance. I definitely found a friend in Drashti, but when it comes to dance, I am extremely professional.”

Salman is choreographing a film after Jhalak gets over. He said that he is indebted to Jhalak for providing him that platform. “The amount of confidence the show has given me today is unbelievable. I can meet big people in the industry today because I know I have the experience,” he added.

He is also open to play leading roles in films and is reading a few scripts. “I adore people like Farhan Akhtar who can sing, dance, act and direct beautifully. I hope to do the same. I feel it is one life, do as much as you can and try and excel in all,” he signed off.
