As the city seems to be hit by the odd-even rule, restaurant owners are not worried at all. They say it is too early to note a difference in sales and even if there is, they have a backup plan to tempt customers with out-of-the-box packages
With the Government introducing a trial of odd-even rule, people in the city still seem to find out ways how to manage their routes. If car pooling is one option available then using pubic transport also seems to be quite comfortable. But, what happens if a person wishes to celebrate or eat at a fine dining restaurant. Though the foodies in town cannot help themselves but savour the good food but does the odd-even rule leave an impact on the sales of the restaurant. As the rule implies from eight in the morning to eight in the evening, some restaurants are also offering exciting discounts and offers for their valuable customers. We asked many restaurant owners how they keep to maintain the turnover despite the rule.
Rajat Kapoor owner at Cafe Hawkers shared that the rule has not affected them till now. “We are centrally located and this is the reason we enjoy tourists, expats, metro commuters, office goers who take cabs and come in while walking. However, we are up for the people who are supporting it. For all the odd days we are offering discount of 11 per cent and for all the even days we are offering discount of 10 per cent in our restaurants,” he said. Naresh Madan owner at Imperfecto and Informal added “If you order odd number of dishes on odd days and even number of dishes on even days, you might win yourself signature Informal or Imperfecto drink.”
Not only this, in order to not affect their footfall, restaurants have also extended the timings for their happy hours. How about getting a complimentary beer after a hectic day at workIJ Akshay Kakkar owner at Butler House shared that it is too early to comment whether odd-even formula will affect our sales or not. “I don’t see this affecting restaurants turnover for two facts — our day business runs with residents of near by places and kitty crowds, and for them we are just 10 minutes away. And for our night crowd after eight, the rule does not imply. But, to support the rule,we have extended the timing for our happy hours till 9pm,” he stated.
Umang Tewari owner at Vault Cafe, and Junkyard cafe shared that they have a lot of exciting new year packages still going on which are tempting enough for people to visit. “Ours is a place which has metro connectivity. We are offering complimentary welcome drinks for first five days of this rule if people are following it,” he concluded.
