Charles Addams would have been disappointed if only he checked out this new spot in Gurgaon. ANANYA checks in
If you have been fascinated with the famous cartoon and movie franchise, The Addams Family, then it’s anybody’s guess that you would be more than excited to try Addams House. But it would turn out to be a stark contrast of what you would expect. located in the crowded market of sector 29, Gurgaon, the restaurant is set up as a haunted house but the menu is the most typical. The façade is a dark castle from the outside with gothic interiors paired up with blood red chairs. It also has a rooftop, so to speak.
We started with the wild mushroom soup. Served with a loaf of bread it had the right amount of thickness to it. We then tried some Addams dragon popcorn which was done in a molecular manner. The popcorn came in cheese and caramel. Next, we tried Indian spices infused rajma chawal balls which were served with tomato chutney. We would anyday prefer rajma chawal in its original form. Moving on, we ordered tandoori soya chaap, stuffed chicken kulcha bites, drunken chicken tikka and classic tomato and basil bruschetta. This is the most basic menu we came across in a long time. We really hope they can think of something ingenious.
A food journey is obviously incomplete without dessert. The dessert menu included hazelnut royal crackle, again they played with the basics here. We tried winter rose at the spooky house. It was a rose flavoured espuma which was served with gelato. Nothing to write about. They also serve a range of burgers and other usual fare. It’s not a place you would want to come back to unless they introduce some freshness to the menu.
