To commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi as Swachhta Diwas and of culmination the Swachhta Pakhwada, the team – NDMC, RWAs, MTAs, shopkeepers, NGOs and other volunteers had contributed their Shramdaan at Connaught Place.
Puneet Kumar Goel, Municipal Council Delhi officiating Chairperson, released a booklet titled, Segregation of Waste at Source and gave away Swachhta Awards to the organisations and participants, who adjudged the best one, amongst Gymkhana Club, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Pandara Road Market Association, RWA laxmibai Nagar, Nehru Park and four NDMC schools, on the basis of their contribution in terms of swachhta initiatives undertaken during the year.
Expressing his thanks to the team who had extended their positive and sustained contribution during the Swachhta Pakhwada undertaken by the Council, the Chairperson said that our most significant contribution would be to upkeep not only our households and surroundings, but also to inspire our close ones to extend their positive contribution towards it.
He said that the focus should be primarily on most marginalised households, living in the slum areas of NDMC. And added that it should be an ongoing sustained endeavour, which would be helpful to lay the foundation of Swachh Bharat – Swasth Bharat and make the mission a success.
