Sum total of all

Filmmaker Chris Columbus, who is ready with his forthcoming directorial Pixels, feels the sci-fi comedy is a “mixmatch of all the things” he has done in the past.

“Pixels enabled me to mix comedy with a sense of action-adventure. It enabled me to push comedy as far as I could but also create this very intense, very edgy action adventure film. It’s a ‘mixmatch’ of all the things I have done in the past. It was an opportunity to create something fresh from the tools that I have gathered over the years,” Columbus said.

The director revealed he wanted to be a part of the film because he loved its script as it felt “original” and unique. “I felt that I was reading a lot of big action adventure movies because of my relationship with Harry Potter. People were expecting me to do another one of those types of films and I was getting a lot of those scripts but it did not feel original. Reading the Pixels script felt so original, so unique. I felt I just had to do it. I fell in love with the characters, too. I liked the blend of comedy, it gave me an opportunity which I had not received in other movies,” he added.

In the film, Sam Brenner , Will Cooper, ludlow lamonsoff, and Eddie Plant — children growing up in the 1980s — saved the world thousands of times, that too at 25 cents a game in the video arcades. But now, they have to do it for real.
