Apart from relying on and trusting a few close friends, you can also consider the Almighty as one, says Rajyogi Brahmakumar Nikunj
A friend in need is a friend indeed. We all have read this proverb or heard of it many times in life, and for majority of us this proverb has stood true.
When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have rather chosen to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender touch. That is why friendship is probably considered as the most valuable of all the relationships in the world because a friend is the one who knows us and loves us just the way we are. As compared to other relationships like parents, relatives et al. that are are not chosen but given to us, (and that also has its own inherent value), but friendship, however, is a relation that’s totally our own choice.
That is why we always experience that a friend is someone who speaks to our heart, someone to whom we feel a magnetic affinity. Hence, when there is a mutual response between two persons who are becoming friends then a relationship is born that can last a lifetime (and even beyond a lifetime).
Off-late the word friendship has become very common in the modern day society where we call everyone and anyone who comes into our contact our friend.
But one must understand that mere acquaintances or those with whom we work because of our posting at a certain place cannot be called our friends. Friendship is the coming together of equals, where even if there is a difference in abilities, roles or position, there is a vision of equality which does not create any feeling of superiority or inferiority. This permits acceptance of one another unconditionally, which creates closeness. There is such a respectful closeness that one does not intrude on the personality of the other, nor does one harbour distaste for any weakness seen.
A real friend is the one who stands by us through thick and thin. With them you do not have to prove yourself, for you are loved and accepted for what you are.
Good times or bad, a friend is ever present, ready to share, to serve, to listen or just to be there. There is this mutual feeling of love which not only accommodates any shortcomings but actively transforms it with a word of encouragement, a smiling patience and an act of kindness.
Friendship means availability. A friend is available at all times and never gives excuses like, “I do not have time,” “wait,” “later,” “don’t bother me now” et al. Very much like what Khalil Gibran had said, “In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.”
However, looking at the hustle-bustle in our day to day life, is it really easy and practical to have a friend who would love us unconditionally and be available to us all the timeIJ No one today has the amount of patience to invest their time and nurture the plant of friendship, especially when give and take is the rule of people living in today’s technologically advanced age.
So what is the way outIJ It is said that trust is an alliance between two hearts which can never be broken or betrayed easily because it dispels any fear of being misused or being abandoned. The only one who can be trusted blindly is the one who is above all humans and who is available to us all the time; he is none another than the Supreme Almighty himself.
Yes, he is the most trustworthy of all the friends, there is really no comparison of him to anyone in this universe. But,unfortunately very few of us have the great fortune to experience this magical relationship with Him. We call Him our mother, father, beloved, teacher while we pray, but of all these relationships the one that we share with him as a ‘friend’ permeates all our other relationships with Him.
With Almighty as our friend we can be open and know that in that openness there is a loyalty and an understanding of everything that is within the our heart. Though He is our guardian and teacher, at the same time we must not forget that He is also our closest friend indeed who is not like our fair-weather friends who leave us in the lurch when we fall on bad days.
Hence by having Him as our best friend, we can experience an ease in all our relationships forever. So rekindle this flame of friendship with The Almighty and spread the light of love and happiness all across your life and the lives of your loved ones.
