The second winner of the show Syed Mamoon says that the reality show helped him discover that he can be a good comic
Nothing could have been a better reward for his years of hard work than this win at India’s Best Cinestar Ki Khoj. Syed Mamoon comes from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh. Though he always wanted to be an actor, he was not able to learn acting formally due to his family’s poor financial condition. The only way he could have got an opportunity was through TV reality shows. So he gave numerous auditions. He was selected and even won Big Fame Star on Big Magic. But as mostly happens with the winners of reality shows, the win could not get him roles on the small or silver screen. But it surely gave him confidence and he was able to do 15 short regional films and many stage shows to earn his bread and butter.
As soon as he got to know about the auditions for Zee’s India’s Best Cinestar Ki Khoj, he latched onto the opportunity. He was selected and in no time he proved his potential to the judges — Anurag Basu, Sonali Bendre and Vijay Krishna Acharya aka Victor. “If anyone says that I know acting today, it is only because of the show and the judges. Before coming here I never thought that I could do comedy or romantic roles. But I was made to realise that comedy can be one of my strengths. I think I am still reluctant to do romantic scenes and I will keep working towards that,” he said. Syed added that apart from learning about acting, he was taught how to present himself and how to improve his communication skills. He shared that Anurag was like a “father, guiding at each step but not interfering,” Sonali was “like a mother, taking care of how one should present oneself” and Victor “was a friend, discussing problems and often giving valuable suggestions.”
