Singer Kavita Krishnamurthy says I don’t want to work with today’s musicians. By PRADEEP PATTANAYAK
Soon after Pyar Jhukta Nahin, Kavita Krishnamurthy rose to fame. After this laxmi-Pyare duo’s BMB production and Mithun-Padmini starrer film, Kavita gave a number of hits like Hawa Hawai…,Pyar Hua Chupke Se…,Har Karam Apana Karenge…Aaj Main Upar Asaman Niche…and the list goes on. Recently, she was in Bhubaneswar to attend a music concert at the National Toshali craft mela. On this occasion we had a formal chat with her.
Why are you keeping yourself away from playback singing IJ
Today’s musicians give technology much more importance than the voice. Apart from this, the lyrics has no charm as they had in the times of Gulzar, Anand Bakshi and Javed Akhter.
Do you get calls from the new genre musiciansIJ
In fact I don’t want to work with today’s musicians. On the other hand they (the musicians) are having their choice of singers mostly from reality shows.
What are your views about the reality shows IJ
Reality shows are really good. The participants are having a platform to show their talent. But after the reality shows result, the successful participants should focus on more riyaz, than on attending stage shows.
As you are in Odisha now, what do you want to say about the state IJ
Odisha is a culturally rich state. The people are very friendly. And to be very frank the handloom saree’s, the odia cuisine, odissi dance and odissi music are very close to my heart.
