Keeping hair off your face while exercising, drinking plenty of water and changing your clothes immediately after a workout are a few tips that dermatologist Kiran lohia suggests for a healthy skin
Fitness is a vital part of life, making you healthier and happier in the long run. But certain things that you may or may not have been following could make a big difference in your workout schedule. You never know what might be adversely affecting your hair or your skin when you are sweating it out to achieve that toned body. Here are a few tips that you can follow before, during and after workouts:
Pre-Workout
Before a workout, it is vital to prep in some simple ways. First of all, spray a deodorant or antiperspirant. By wearing these anti-sweating products you prevent a multitude of problems that can erupt when you sweat too much in those extra-friction areas. Excessive sweating in the underarm can result in body odour.
Another problem is that the risk of a fungal infection goes up significantly. Fungus likes wet and dark places, and sweaty underarm are fungus’ holy grail.
If you are a swimmer, then you must feel that the skin gets especially dry after a water workout. This is because chlorine makes the skin very dry. To protect the epidermis, apply a barrier ointment like vaseline or aquaphor on your skin before swimming. It will prevent the excessive dryness and keep your skin healthy and moist
For those of you that hate getting frizzy hair from your workouts, there is a solution. Spray some dry shampoo around your hairline. It will keep the grease and sweat from seeping through your pores and into your hair.
During Your Workout
An important thing to remember is to not wear makeup during a workout. It will block the pores and will result in pimples in the long-run. When working out, your sweat glands go into overload. If there is makeup on top of your skin, you are not letting the sweat out, thereby blocking your already taxed pores. Make sure your skin is clean during your fitness plan.
For the hair, it is vital that sweat doesn’t get it wet. Tie up your hair and keep it away from your face so the sweat cannot get your hair wet. Finally, wear a headband or headcover for extra sweat protection!
Finally, for your internal balance, make sure you drink enough water. Getting dehydrated will only give you dry lips and dry skin. Make sure you are drinking enough water before, during and after a workout.
After Your Workout
Always remember to wash your face immediately after your workout. Allowing the sweat and grime to sit on the skin is a recipe for disaster. Also, change your clothes so that the sweat doesn’t accumulate on your body, putting you at risk for fungal infections and heat rash.
