lisa Haydon seems waggish and you take that back after a conversation with her. By Unnati Joshi

It is a good time for lisa Haydon right now.  Having received plaudits for her performance as the feisty Vijayalakshmi in Queen, she slipped in between and made a killer comeback with a cameo in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.  In between, she got married and is now set to be a sassy girl in a new web series, a sort of Bridesmaids meets Hangover in an Indian context.

“The show is about four girls who go on a road trip together from Delhi to Thailand, apparently to celebrate the bachelorette pleasures, as one of them is about to get married. Each character is very different. My character is Shonali, who  is ambitious but underplays her emotions. She is not the most outspoken. She will only speak when she has something really funny to say. She blends in the crowd and is an all-rounder. Actually this idea of going out on a trip was Shonali’s. I always find similarities in all of my characters, be they negative or  freaky. I wouldn’t say I am entirely like Shonali. I think I am lot more outspoken than she is and I am probably wilder than her,” she told us, laughing out loud.

“This is very different from the movie format. When you are doing a web series, you are shooting around nine scenes a day. So the workload was really a lot. We had to can things really quickly. It was a different way of working but I wouldn’t call it a challenge because I enjoyed it thoroughly. Usually I do a bit of research beforehand but this was the first time I was thrown in the moment,” she added.

Having worked in the films, television and now a web series, which was more funIJ “I find all  media similar. I am an actor and I love the role that has got the bite,” she said promptly.

lisa has recently tied the knot with her long-time beau Dino lalwani but there hasn’t been “adjustments” that married actors in the industry are routinely asked about. “I am going on my honeymoon today. I got back to work after I got married. I don’t think anything has to change after you get married. But I guess some changes come after having a baby, not after marriage, especially if you are married to the right person who understands your lifestyle and profession. If you marry someone who understands your mind, nothing changes per se.”

The first time you see the trailer of The Trip two thoughts immediately pop up. Thought one, Wow! This is so cool and I have to try this with my friends. Thought two, is it somewhere similar to the Hangover seriesIJ lisa instantly demolished the comparison saying, “I don’t think it is the female version of Hangover. The show is written in a very unique way. There is only one part in the trailer that has a reference to Hangover.”

Asked about the changing role of women on screen and she proudly said, “Not just on screen, women around the world these days are outspoken, intelligent and  express themselves wonderfully. I have done a lot of women-centric projects. And I feel very fortunate.”

Quiz her about her bond with The Trip girls and she gushed, “I hadn’t met any of them before the show started. But from the first scene onwards, it has been a laughathon.”

The show released on December 15. So is she nervous about the responseIJ “I don’t think about that. I was nervous before we started shooting. Now that it has been shot, our job is done. Now I don’t expect anything. Whatever comes now is a bonus. So I am not nervous, just plain excited,” she concluded.  Spunky as ever.
