Huma Qureshi was here to launch a smartphone. She tells I Kaur that she judges a phone through its camera

Acting is not the only thing Huma Qureshi is focussing on these days. Present at the launch of Chinese phone maker Gionee’s bellwether smartphone ElIFE E6, the actress stated that photography is her new-found love. Dressed in a grey sequined gown, Huma showed off the new handset while she shared, “I love everything about my phone specially the camera. It is one thing I look for in any phone. I think a camera is the best way to capture memories and the fact that this phone can give me an excellent image, nothing like it. I can now call myself an amateur photographer.”

The launch of the smartphone was preceded by a panel discussion on the rising Indian and Chinese smartphone market in India and the growing demand of quality in handsets.

Huma admitted that she is a phone buff and added that even though the brand matters while buying a phone, the features and the quality are the ultimate thing. She said, “Who isn’t addicted to phones todayIJ I am constantly travelling and the only way to stay in touch with my closed ones is through my phone. So if something goes wrong with it, I will be in a fix. That is why I think it is also important for the quality of the phone to be very good. I think we are slowly shifting from being brand conscious to being quality conscious.”

Huma is currently working for Dedh Ishqiya with Madhuri Dixit. She feels that by being a part of such films, she can explore herself in different ways. “Acting is a way of introspection for me. Plus it is not interesting to play one kind of a character again and again. Imagine eating the same thing everyday, so boring,” she added.

Karan Razdan recently made a statement about casting Huma as Meena Kumari for his forthcoming biopic. “It is one of the biggest compliments to be considered for such a role. It is very flattering, but I haven’t heard anything from the director yet,” she summed up.
