The festival time is the peak travel season for Indian Railways. Taking advantage of the pressure for availability of reservation on trains during this period, unscrupulous elements become active, providing passengers with tickets on premium prices in an unauthorised way. Taking cue from the past years the Railway Protection Force of Northern Railway was highly vigilant looking out for such vendors. On receiving inputs the RPF team raided several premises and recovered tickets that had been procured through wrongful means. Electronic computer hardware and printers were also taken into custody. 43 unauthorised persons were rounded up last month. Cases were registered against them under different sections of Railways Act. 255 future travel tickets amounting to Rs 5 lakh were recovered from them.
