He is said to give performances like the Rolling Stones. At a recent live act at the U/A Festival, Farhan Akhtar not only had the crowd begging for more but also spoke about having an equal society, equal rights and about his campaign MARD. By Riya Sharma
Started at around half past eight, Farhan Akhtar, amid the oomph and aww expressions, kicked off with his electrifying number, Sinbad the sailor. With Dilli ki sardi as the backdrop, Akhtar, with his never-ending energy took off his jacket only after two songs. “There came a time in my life when my parents used to ask me, ‘What are you going to do with your lifeIJ’ And, then I was able to show those same emotions through my movie, lakshya,” and the audience knew the lyrics very well as he started Main aisa kyun hunIJ
Akhtar, who is the brand ambassador for the campaign, MARD (Men Against Rape and Discrimination) asked people to encourage gender equality. “We need to have a society that is equal for all of us — equal right of education,” he said.
Not only the crowd, but the actor himself got crazier as the show went on. He started singing Tum ho toh, but suddenly wrapped up and said goodnight at around 9:40pm leaving everyone in shock only to return back after five minutes. In those five minutes, he did his little stretching, warm-up and at least 30 push ups on stage and resumed the song, from where he had left, making it a rocking performance indeed.
