The designer showcased her bright line with much pomp and show. K Bhardwaj attended the event
She did what she is best at. Winning hearts with the grand, spectacular do graced by the who’s who of Delhi’s social circle. Must mention goes to Vijay Mallya and then there were regulars like Sunanda Pushkar. Ritu Beri surely knows what Delhi needs to gear up on a weekend — a heady dose of glamour, gossip topped with some exotic wine and cheese. This time the venue was the Spanish Ambassador Gustavo Manuel’s residence. Everything at the venue donned a look inspired by the Spanish culture.
The gala event opened with the Ambassador’s address. He mentioned that the idea of the show was conceived over a dinner.
“As we all know Beri has a special connection with France, we were discussing about our cultures. India has a growing fascination with Spain as Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was also shot there. We just thought it would be a great idea to stitch a collection inspired by the Spanish culture,” he said.
The collection was full of elegance, austerity and a superior sense of aesthetics. lavish intricate embroidery, fascinating textures and floral motifs were the highlight of the collection.
The look was predominantly layered with trapeze shaped silhouettes, bustles, bows, corset frills, laces with ruffles and fringes. The fabrics used were satins, brocades, lames with ornamental collars and other details.
What impressed us the most was neatly structured gowns with detailed works. The silhouettes were a mix of short jackets worn with high waisted pants, full skirts, high collared white shirts, capes inspired by the bull fighters and colourful frilly gowns with animal and floral prints inspired by the flamenco costumes.
Though it was a formulaic collection, we liked the innovate drapes. Jackets and intricate corsets over the evening gowns were looking amazing. As per the trend, bright shades like green, pastel blues were dominating apart from the regular reds, whites and blacks.Beri also got kids on the ramp as they strutted around as well as performed on some flamenco numbers.
